Well, this is an amazing little wine. Just shows what the South African vineyards are doing with pinotage (a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault).
The nose needs some time to open up--about 10 minutes should be good. Then lots of red and black berry aromas with some vegetal hints.
It's very fruity to begin, and full of berries; long on the tongue with fresh acidity. This wine displays currant, plum and smoky notes throughout.
The finish is fairly strong with under notes of tobacco. No crankiness whatsoever, but sharp and long. Not much tanin; the cab is not as complex and tanic as a french cab, but it's fruity, balanced and extremely drinkable. An amazing bargain.
It's balanced and fruity, with drink-me-now tannins. Pair with grilled meats.
